Chinatown Boardroom is please to announce Ricky Grigg as the speaker for this month’s 3rd Thursday of the month Surf Discussion Series. The Surf Discussion Series coincides with The Chinatown Arts District 3rd Thursday events. Ricky Grigg's life is one of adventure, from big-wave surfing to deep sea diving & oceanography, a marriage of sports and science. In the '1960s Ricky Grigg was known as one of the best big wave surfers of the era, in 1967 Surfer Magazine rated him No.1 in the world. He won the Duke Kahanamoku Invitational Surfing Championship in 1966 and 1968. Ricky earned a Ph.D. from Scripps Institute of Oceanography and became a professor at the University of Hawaii. He has authored a number of books about surfing, science and the ocean. Ricky Grigg will be discussing Environmental Fallacies and he will be available for a book signing. The Surf Discussion Series creates a forum for people to meet and discuss surfing, culture and life.

We are happy to introduce Kat Reeder as one of the featured artists this month at Chinatown Boardroom. She is an illustrator / designer, she was born in Peru, grew up in Miami and currently lives in Hawaii. Her style is characterized as retro-inspired her artwork combines drawing, photography and digital media. Her use of color and texture is drawn from her love of the Hawaiian Islands.
